Gravel & Stone Driveways in the Lehigh Valley, PA

Based in Walnutport, PA (Northampton County). Serving Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon, and Monroe Counties. Owner Dale meets every customer on site and oversees each project from written proposal to final rolling.

About This Service

Gravel and stone is the most economical driveway surface, and for some rural properties it is the right one. DSP Paving builds new stone driveways, regrades existing ones that have rutted or washed, refreshes worn gravel, and lays stone for parking areas across Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon, and Monroe Counties from our Walnutport base.

A good gravel driveway starts with proper grading and a crown that sheds water to the sides. Without a crown, water runs down the wheel tracks and carves ruts. We shape the grade, lay the right stone in the right order, and compact it so the surface stays put.

The stone matters. We use a 2A modified stone that locks together under compaction rather than round pea stone that rolls under tires. Refreshing a tired gravel drive with new stone and regrading is far cheaper than paving, and it can buy years of service.

Watch For These

Signs You Need Gravel & Stone Driveways

Wheel Ruts Forming

Ruts in the wheel tracks mean the grade has lost its crown and stone is migrating.

Washing Out

Rain is carving channels down the drive because the pitch is wrong.

Stone Thinning

Thin or bare spots show the gravel has migrated or sunk into the base.

New Drive on a Budget

A new stone driveway is the most affordable way to put a usable surface down.

Our Method

How We Do It

Grade and Crown

We shape the base with a crown that sheds water to the sides instead of down the tracks.

Lay the Base Stone

A 2A modified stone is laid as a base that locks together under compaction.

Compact in Lifts

We roll and compact the stone in lifts so it sets firm and stable.

Top and Finish

A finish layer is spread and graded for a clean, drivable surface.

Lehigh Valley Weather Note

Gravel drives hold up across seasons when the crown and grade are right. In the Lehigh Valley, heavy rain and snowmelt are the forces that wash and rut stone. We grade to shed water so the drive does not carve itself up each winter.

Why DSP Paving

What People Say

“Dale is a good communicator, keeping in touch with the client compared to my experiences with two other paving companies. He was able to do a paving job as well as seal a prior paving job. He started and completed the work the week after he gave us a price. His team's prep work was neat and precise before laying down the asphalt paving which looks really nice. I would hire him again, if I needed this kind of work done in the future.”

Susan D.HomeAdvisor

“DSP called half hour after I submitted my project. Was polite, and curious to my time frame. Had it done Fast and great looking.”
